Xmas in Orlando

Things to do for a Happy Christmas Holiday
Xmas in Orlando
Weather at ChristmasThe weather In December is usually very pleasant with normal highs of 22°C (73°F) and normal lows of 11°C (52°F).

When you think about Orlando you tend to think of theme parks, swimming pools and sunshine, so okay, Orlando hardly goes with your traditional image of a white Christmas, but many of the attractions and theme parks of Orlando put on holiday shows that are filled with festive fun.

ICE at Gaylord Palms

The unmissable Christmas event in Orlando is ICE at Gaylord Palms, billed as 'An instant dose of winter' the attraction is carved by a team of 40 artisans from Harbin, China. The talented artisans spend nearly an entire month in Kissimmee creating this one-of-a-kind attraction out of two million pounds of ice!

Each year ICE features a different theme, for 2008 the theme was 'Santa's Arctic Blast' featuring several scenes that starred a jolly Cold Saint Nicholas, one of which was carved in an oversized scale, allowing even adults to be dwarfed when they sat on the knee of the 13-foot-tall Santa.

Another popular scene was castle and slides, which had been designed to celebrate Santa's Christmas Eve flight... reindeer and all, another, the attraction's signature scene, was a breathtaking life-size Nativity carved completely of crystal-clear ice.

With the temperature set at only -12°C (9°F) it is pretty chilly, but ICE thoughtfully provide parka coats for your visit, and you can purchase hats and gloves there, if you don't have your own, walkways around the attraction are carpeted so normal footwear is fine.

The attraction is fully accessible to both wheelchairs and pushchairs, ICE is a great seasonal attraction for all the family.
